Episode 1 · Chapter 1
Lumumba wins freedom for Batanga and is crowned King Cayman II. Caetana gives birth to Tonho, and Dona Menina declares the baby is destined for greatness. Alika, the daughter of Niara and Cayman, is born. Jendal plots to seize Cayman's throne. Oruka foresees that King Cayman will be betrayed and that Batanga will fall into disgrace. Jendal offers to marry Alika and protect the kingdom.

Jendal reminds Cayman of the oracle's prophecy and urges the king not to break his promise to give him Alika's hand in marriage. Alika declares that Jendal is not the man who will protect her from the kingdom's alleged doom. Jendal assures Kênia that he will be the king of Batanga. Omar courts Alika. Cayman decides to strike a deal with Pasha Soliman. Jendal suggests that Mr. Campbell support him in a coup.

Chinua advises Cayman to flee with his family. Jendal overpowers Cayman and imprisons him alongside Niara and Alika, seizing the throne of Batanga. José tells Teresa that he misses Batanga. Mirinho arrives in Barro Preto during an official municipal event. Mirinho treats Tonho rudely. Virgínia becomes suspicious when Mirinho claims to have lost his wedding rings. Jendal orders the execution of Cayman and his family.

Dumi asks Jendal for forgiveness and swears loyalty to the new king in exchange for his life. Mirinho reveals to Casemiro that he wants to move to Recife. Alika has a dream about the warrior who will save her. Mirinho promises to take Mundica to Recife. Casemiro confides in Tonho about Mirinho. Mirinho gives Virgínia a gift. Tonho talks to Mirinho about Casemiro's land.

Alika agrees to marry Jendal to save her family's lives. Sebastião laments to Onildo that Virgínia only has eyes for Mirinho. Mirinho sounds out Virgínia about the possibility of her father investing in his new business. Alika assures Chinua that she will bring Jendal down. Cayman mentions to Niara that his brother Zambi never trusted Jendal. Mirinho demands that Tonho not interfere with his plans.

Jendal badmouths Cayman to King Augusto and Queen Cesária. Tonho and Caetana discuss the wedding of Mirinho and Virgínia. Alika and Jendal get married at the palace. Alika, Cayman, and Niara flee with Omar. Before dying, Cayman asks Omar to help Niara and Alika reach Brazil and reveals that his brother Zambi abdicated the throne for a Brazilian commoner. Omar tells Alika and Niara to head to the beach.

Niara explains to Alika that her uncle Zambi married a Brazilian woman. Jendal goes after Alika with his soldiers and finds Cayman's body. Alika and Niara manage to board a ship to Brazil. Alika vows to reclaim the throne of Batanga. Alika arrives in Brazil and runs into Tonho.

The mayor celebrates the development of Barro Preto. The townspeople gather to welcome Virgínia. Bartô gives a speech. Mirinho arrives on horseback and courts his girlfriend; Virgínia is charmed. Tonho arrives with Niara and Alika. Tonho leaves Alika and Niara at José's house. Alika and Niara explain that Jendal is offering a reward for their heads.

Omar is wounded and unconscious in prison, being treated by Chinua. Jendal plans to use him as a bargaining chip for Alika and Niara. José and Teresa vow to protect Alika and Niara. In Batanga, Pasha Soliman negotiates with Jendal for Omar's release in exchange for the whereabouts of Alika and Niara. Soliman demands to see Omar before revealing where Alika and Niara are. Jendal accepts Soliman's proposal.

José and Teresa take note of Dona Menina's premonition; she asks Tonho to assist her with the ceremony for Cayman. Diógenes is concerned about Virgínia’s engagement to Mirinho. Dona Menina tells Tonho that Lúcia/Alika is his link to the past. Mirinho tries to get closer to Lúcia/Alika and Vera/Niara. Paxá Soliman assures Dumi that, in order to save Omar, he will reveal Alika's whereabouts.

Tonho suspects that Lúcia/Alika might be his sister. Mirinho hides his interest in Lúcia/Alika from Virgínia. Tonho probes Lúcia/Alika to investigate a possible family connection between them. Tonho talks to Dona Menina about his past. Caetana fears she has been betrayed by Antônio. Alika writes to Dumi. Ngozi is struck during the clash between the miners and Jendal's royal guard.

Salma confesses her love for Tonho to Father Viriato. Fátima tries to convince Salma to forget Tonho and follow her family's traditions. Alika is bothered by thoughts of Tonho. Mirinho overhears Casemiro instructing Tonho to retrieve the briefcase containing the employees' wages, and gets an idea. Virgínia offers a job to Lúcia/Alika.

Lúcia/Alika rejects Virgínia's proposal, and Tonho questions her about it. Mirinho hides the bag containing the employees' money in order to frame Tonho in front of Casemiro. Tonho realizes the bag is missing and alerts everyone. Fortunato states that he will investigate the disappearance of the bag containing Casemiro's money. Tonho tries to use his savings to reimburse Casemiro, who refuses to accept the money.

Mundica demands that Mirinho take her to the ball. In Batanga, Soliman welcomes the Turkish doctor who will treat Omar. Tonho catches Mundica hiding the briefcase. Mundica returns the briefcase to Casemiro and snitches on Mirinho. Tonho confronts Mirinho. ‘Lúcia’ hits back at Virgínia’s taunts and prejudices. Accompanied by her mother and uncles, Lúcia (Alika) makes a stunning appearance at the ball, wearing Batanga jewelry.

Virgínia demands that Alika (Lúcia) be thrown out of the dance; Alika reacts indignantly. Mirinho announces that she is his guest and asks her to dance. Virgínia is furious. Back at the sugar mill, Mundica laments not being able to attend the dance and dances with Ciço. Mirinho harasses Alika and grabs her by the arm. Tonho comes to Alika's defense. Mirinho shoves him, and Tonho shoves back. Mirinho falls to the ground. Everyone reacts. Fortunato arrests Tonho.

Tonho and Alika kiss, but he breaks it off when he remembers Dona Menina's prophecy. The doctor begins Omar's surgery. Soliman prays in anguish, and Chinua comforts him. José, Alika, Niara, and Teresa discuss Tonho's imprisonment. Alika reveals to her mother that she kissed Tonho and wonders if he might be the warrior of her dreams. Mirinho apologizes to Alika, who challenges him to free Tonho.

Virgínia breaks up with Mirinho for good. Mirinho confronts Tonho. Grace pressures her son to go after his fiancée. Jendal waits for Omar to recover so he can extract information from him about Alika and Niara. Tonho tells Alika about Dona Menina’s prophecy and the suspicion that they are siblings. Alika tells her uncle about recurring dreams involving a mysterious warrior, suspecting it might be Omar or Tonho.

Virgínia threatens Lúcia/Alika, who confides in Salma. Lúcia/Alika goes with Tonho to Dona Menina's house, where she confirms that the two are not siblings. Alika confesses to Teresa that Tonho has stirred her heart. Guided by Graça, Mirinho wins Virgínia back, leaving Sebastião disappointed. Tonho declares his feelings for Lúcia/Alika.

Alika and Tonho kiss. Tonho drops Alika off at home, injured. Niara and Maria Helena collect signatures for a petition supporting a school in Barro Preto. Marta gets annoyed by Virgínia’s spitefulness toward Alika. Dumi convinces Jendal not to use violence to suppress the miners' protests. Mirinho and Casemiro discuss the jewelry store robbery in São Paulo. Tonho and Alika think about each other.

Alika reads Dumi's letter. Jendal sees Dumi receiving a note from Ladisa, Ngozi's widow. Alika tells her mother about Dumi's letter. Jendal orders Akin's arrest and commands Dumi to throw him into the snake pit at dawn. Dumi and Akin are terrified. Alika and José negotiate the pawning of the jewelry with Diógenes, who is delighted with the pieces. Dumi throws Akin into the snake pit.

Jendal forces Dumi to look into the snake pit where Akin was thrown. Alika reiterates to her mother that she likes Tonho but cannot get involved with him. Virgínia recalls a news story about a jewelry theft in São Paulo. Sebastião takes it upon himself to spread the lie throughout the town. Miguel decides against renting the house where Alika planned to set up her studio. The police chief announces that he has called in the police to investigate them.

Alika deduces that Virgínia conspired against her. Mirinho is pleased to learn that Virgínia is jealous of him. Jendal acknowledges Dumi's loyalty. Chinua manages to save Akin, who plots with Dumi to deceive Jendal. Alika is moved by Tonho's support. Everyone in town rejects Niara and Alika, and Viriato reprimands the townspeople. Salma and Ana Maria support Lúcia/Alika. Alika confronts Virgínia.

Alika confronts Virgínia and upstages her in front of everyone. Mirinho reacts jealously upon seeing Tonho dancing with Alika. Mirinho corners Alika and says he can help her escape the police. In Batanga, Jendal dreams of Alika and Omar. Jendal pressures Soliman to reveal the whereabouts of Alika and Niara; Soliman refuses, and Jendal orders his arrest. Graça and Virgínia meet the inspector from São Paulo at the station.

Botelho accepts the deal with Graça and Virgínia. Adônis grows suspicious upon seeing the inspector in their company. Adônis goes to José's house to pick up Lúcia/Alika and Vera/Niara for the confrontation regarding the jewels at the police station. Mundica reveals that it was Mirinho who sabotaged Tonho's wagon. Jendal discovers that Soliman's ship has been looted. Akin and other locals celebrate Soliman's support for the revolution.

Botelho states that Alika and Niara's jewelry is not the same as the pieces stolen in São Paulo, clearing both women of suspicion. Virgínia is outraged, while Diógenes grows suspicious. Lúcia/Alika tells Diógenes that he deserves an apology from Virgínia. Mirinho decides to collect the bribe money that Botelho accepted. Omar wakes up, and Chinua and Çinar celebrate. Salma sees Tonho and Lúcia/Alika together.

Salma apologizes to Alika and Tonho and leaves, feeling embarrassed. In Batanga, Jendal inspects the mines with the British. Casemiro tells Ana Maria about the bribe involving Graça and Virgínia. Mirinho reaffirms to Manoel that he is going to win Alika over. Alika confesses to Salma that Tonho has declared his feelings for her. Mirinho corners Alika to apologize. Omar and Soliman have an emotional reunion.

Jendal is devastated upon learning of Soliman's death. Burak offers a prayer in the Pasha's honor. Tonho and Mrs. Menina help Isaura give birth to her son. Jendal orders Soliman's crew to continue working in Batanga. Çinar is displeased to learn he must leave Omar in Batanga in Chinua's care. Vera/Niara and Maria Helena hand Bartô the petition for the school's reconstruction.

Alika vows to take revenge on Jendal and clear Cayman's name. Adalgisa and Mirinho throw Virgínia off the trail. Omar wakes up calling out for Alika, infuriating Jendal. Adalgisa makes a pass at Mirinho. Onildo grows suspicious of Vera. Alika and Niara consider going to Rio de Janeiro to seek support for the intervention in Batanga. Virgínia and Lúcia/Alika run into each other at the train station.

Alika assures her family that she will only return to Barro Preto after speaking with Nilo Peçanha. Eugênia feels unwell after getting stuck in the elevator, and Lúcia/Alika helps her. Mirinho tries to kiss Lúcia/Alika and ends up being struck by her. Tonho believes Lúcia/Alika is involved with another man. Lúcia/Alika and her family arrive for dinner with Eugênia and Eustáquio, and Virgínia and Marta are annoyed.

Lúcia/Alika and her family arrive for dinner with Eugênia and Eustáquio, and Virgínia and Marta are annoyed. Ladisa tells Akin she will never forget that it was Dumi who attacked her husband. Jendal hints to the British that he needs to marry off his daughter, and Mr. Campbell suggests that Mr. Jones court Kênia. Eustáquio praises Lúcia/Alika’s business acumen. Niara notices that Alika felt jealous regarding Tonho.

Omar tells Dumi he will avenge his father's death. Kênia agrees to a relationship of convenience with Mr. Jones but sets conditions. Alika and Niara reveal their true identities to Leopoldo in order to rally support for Batanga. Casemiro advises Tonho not to give up on Lúcia/Alika. Lúcia/Alika reveals to Tonho that she is married.

Lúcia/Alika explains to Tonho that her husband is a bad man and that she had to flee from him to protect herself. Akin and Dumi state that they must stop the wedding between Kênia and Mr. Jones. Virgínia is distressed to realize that everyone thinks Eugênia is more beautiful than she is. Graça comes up with a plan to sabotage the beauty contest in Virgínia's favor. Graça and Virgínia prepare to sabotage Eugênia.

Graça claims that, after sabotaging Eugênia's dress, Virgínia will win the beauty contest. Everyone in Barro Preto prepares for Virgínia's victory. Onildo probes José about his family's origins. Dumi reinforces the importance of stopping the marriage between Kênia and Mr. Jones. Omar vows to avenge Soliman's death. Ana Maria tells Januário that she has feelings for Vitalino.

Eugênia hesitates to wear the dress made by Lúcia/Alika. Jendal announces the wedding date for Kênia and Mr. Jones. Kênia finalizes her financial agreement with Mr. Campbell. Casemiro discovers that Graça sabotaged Eugênia's dress and reprimands his wife. Virgínia and Graça vow revenge against Lúcia/Alika. Salma disapproves of Fuad's behavior in her home. Casemiro encourages Tonho to fight for Lúcia/Alika.

Lúcia/Alika reveals to Tonho that she used to dream about him even before meeting him. Tonho asks Lúcia/Alika to be his girlfriend, and Niara makes her daughter promise not to reveal their true identities to him. Bartô welcomes Virgínia back with a party, and everyone is surprised to learn that she did not win the contest in Rio de Janeiro. Jendal breaks into Omar's room and makes threats, and Omar opens his eyes.

Nilo warns Alika about the power of the British backing Jendal and assures the young woman that he will not reveal her identity. Mirinho causes an accident involving Tonho, and Fabrício is alarmed.

Onildo calls for help on the road to assist Tonho, and Fabrício forces Mirinho to stop his car. Alika/Lúcia accuses Mirinho of attacking Tonho. Alika/Lúcia tends to Tonho alongside Onildo and encourages her boyfriend to recall how the accident happened. Onildo informs José, Teresa, and Niara/Vera about what happened to Tonho and says that Alika/Lúcia will stay with the young man. Onildo probes Niara/Vera for information.
